Volunteering opportunities in Cheadle

Have you ever thought about volunteering but don't know where to start?  Perhaps you think you haven't got enough time or you just don't know how to find out about opportunities.  Well we are here to help.  Anyone can volunteer.  You do not need to have a lot of time, many opportunities are one off projects, while others require a small amount of time each week or month. 

• Volunteering is a great way to help your community,

• It can give you a sense of self fullfillment and pride in your community 

• It is also a great way to meet new people and make new friends. 

• It can also be a good way to use your skills or develop new ones 

• Many people use volunteering as a way to find out about potential paid opportunities to keep them up to date during a period of unemployment. 

Whatever your motivation there is sure to be something out there to suit you.

Current opportunities in Cheadle

There are currently 13 organisations locally in Cheadle looking to fill 20 volunteering vacancies.  There may also be many more who will be looking for people in the future.

What sort of opportunities are they?

Many people have preconceived ideas about volunteering, some people think it is just about working in charity shops.  This simply is not true!  Of the current vacancies organisations are looking for:

• Phone Link Volunteer

• Volunteer Youth work to help out at local youth projects

• Trustee

• IT support

• Kitchen work

• Volunteer Drivers to help transport local people to appointments and shopping

• Gardener

• Shopworker

• Fundraiser

• Outdoor/Environmental volunteers wanted for practical projects - shrub clearing, coppicing, path laying etc

• DIY / Hands on volunteers - mechanical and engineering skills a bonus but not essential
