Staffordshire Young People Service

Service/organisation:

Staffordshire Young Peoples Service provides volunteering opportunities for both adults and young people.  Many adult volunteers help lead Duke of Edinburgh's Award expeditions, lead activities in their local youth centre, or help run events over our holiday programmes.  Young people who achieve Duke of Edinburgh's Awards often become volunteers themselves to help other young people achieve in the way they have.  In youth centres, the Senior Member Programme allows young people to take a volunteer role in their youth club having responsibility to run activities and helping plan events.  Staffordshire Young Peoples Service also encourages volunteering from sixth form students and works alongside Staffordshire Council for Voluntary Youth Services in securing volunteering opportunities for young people in voluntary and community settings.  Staffordshire Young Peoples Service is also a national pilot provider for National Citizen Service where opportunities for community volunteering are available in the summer of each year.
