Staffordshire Young Peoples Service
Service: Staffordshire Young People Service
Opportunities: Staffordshire Young Peoples Service provides young people age 11-19 with a wide range of activities, projects and services that are available across the whole of Staffordshire.
Most villages, towns and cities in Staffordshire will have a youth club that is either run by Staffordshire Young Peoples Service or run by a local group that is affiliated to our partners in the voluntary sector. The activities that these clubs provide range from sports and physical activity to arts, music and craft. Many of the clubs also offer youth work interventions that tackle issues such as health lifestyles, relationships, citizenship and volunteering.
All districts within Staffordshire also have youth forums that are facilitated by Youth Work staff. There are also a number of specialist provisions for those young people with additional needs. A growing number of areas are planning residential activities, sometimes in overseas locations, and in the summer a wide programme of leisure activities is offered which includes some trips to attractions within and outside of Staffordshire.
As a volunteer, you would be able to choose the range of activities that best suits your lifestyle and is convenient for you in terms of location. The volunteering opportunities come with induction and access to free training. Reasonable out of pocket expenses are also paid.
If you are looking for a challenging but fun weekly activity, or looking for real work place experience whilst you are studying, then volunteering for Staffordshire Young peoples Service might just be what you are looking for.
Based: Locations across Staffordshire.
Contact details: If you are interested in volunteering, either as an adult with young people, or as a young person in any setting, please contact Mark Jones on 01785 278781 or email on mark.jones@staffordshire.gov.uk.
