Teams of volunteers across Staffordshire work together to achieve some inspirational things. Teams that are made up of different people, from different backgrounds and with different skills and experience who work together to achieve a common goal. We had a huge number of nominations for the Team of the Year Award and it was really difficult for the judges to shortlist just 3. But there were 3 who particularly stood out.
The Winner of the Team of the Year Award was Staffordshire Women's Aid.
At Staffordshire Women’s Aid (SWA) each volunteer is different, volunteering for different reasons, in different roles at different times of the day; however the passion commitment drive and enthusiasm they have is what makes them a committed team of individuals. Volunteers are actively encouraged to bring existing skills in addition to gaining new ones. The diversity of roles that volunteers support the organisation with is truly amazing.
The team were presented with their award by Mark Pepper of Ashley and Loggerheads First Responders who themselves won the award last year.
The other finalists for Volunteer Team of the Year were The Mase Group and the Sharon Fox Cancer Centre.
The Mase Groupare a support service for people and their carers with Alzheimer's.This support group not only provides the opportunity for carers to share experiences, it gives both carer and cared for a relaxing evening out in a loving environment. The group also spends much of its time, raising funds to ensure its continued success.
Sharon Fox Cancer Centrewas founded and run by Sharon Fox, herself a cancer survivor. She is who gives her time to pull others through what is a terrible time in their lives. As a team they are amazing.
Congratulations to all our finalists for their outstanding contribution to communities in Staffordshire.
